In our own backyard this time, we had the pleasure to finally connect with VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association). This time we got to make the donation in person to our fellow Vancouverites! Their awesome staff were so kind as to offer us a tour of their extensive facility including a shelter with specific areas for different cats’ needs and state-of-the-art- medical facilities.

Seeing the inner workings of a rescue organization gave us a deeper appreciation for the hard work and dedication that happens to save animals in need. For that, we are very proud to support VOKRA’s kitties with a donation of probiotics, fish oils, joint care, and anxiety support!

Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) is a volunteer-driven non-profit dedicated to the rescue of cats in British Columbia, Canada’s Lower Mainland. They have a no-kill policy and do not operate a traditional shelter. Instead, they have more than 350 individual foster homes to protect very young kitties from colds, distemper, parasites and other transmissible illnesses.

Forming in 2000, VOKRA started with the plan of caring for very young, mainly bottle-feeding kittens. This age of kitten rarely survived if found without a mother cat as very few people know how or are able to provide the round-the-clock feeding and necessary care. It soon became clear that older kittens, under the age at which they could safely be vaccinated, also would do much better in a foster home. Mother cats, both tame and feral, joined the list.

VOKRA has grown rapidly since its founding! They now rescue 1400+ cats, clock 32000+ volunteer hours, and raise about $750,000 for the well being of cats per year.
